Library holds workshop on safely taking pain medicine
AUGUSTA, Wis.
Augusta Memorial Public Library on Thursday put on a free virtual workshop called ‘Let’s Talk About Pain Medicine,’ to teach the community how to use opioid medicines more safely and effectively.
The library, partnered with the Wisconsin Health Literacy organization, told attendees to keep prescription opioids in their original containers, always know how many you are permitted to have, and that opioid medication should not be measured by a spoon from the drawer, but rather a measuring utensil.
If you need to dispose of the leftover medication, make sure you do it correctly by using a drug deactivation system, where you can dispose of opioids in the pill, liquid or patch form.
