DEA Educational Foundation youth outreach program sponsored by Deterra Drug Deactivation System

“DEA: Youth Can Fly!” is the first of its kind in the country.

The DEA Educational Foundation will be working with Verde® Technologies, Inc., the makers of the patented Deterra® Drug Deactivation System, in their youth outreach program, “DEA: Youth Can Fly!” Verde Technologies has agreed to sponsor five schools for the youth outreach program which brings together DEA personnel and students in a unique mentorship opportunity that allows discussion about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of education. DEA mentors accompany the students on a day long STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) learning experience at the Lone Star Flight Museum.

“I am thrilled that Deterra has agreed to sponsor this new youth program, it shows their commitment to giving back to the community,” said Kevin Hartmann, President of the DEA Educational Foundation. “I am not surprised that they wanted to partner on this initiative since our goals are the same – protecting youth from the dangers of drug abuse.”

The Deterra Drug Deactivation System is an in-home drug deactivation and disposal pouch which allows people to safely and effectively get rid of unused drugs, including opioids. The pouches contain activated carbon which adsorbs and deactivates pharmaceuticals rendering them inert and unavailable for abuse. The pouches are also environmentally safe, the inert pharmaceuticals cannot leach into the water system.

“Sponsoring this program gives us an opportunity to impact students in a special way,” said Jason Sundby, CEO of Verde Technologies. “Today’s youth need STEM fundamentals and a clear message to stay drug free and we want to be a part of that.”
