Cuyahoga Falls Police Department, SCCP distributing drug disposal bags
CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio
The Cuyahoga Falls Police Department has been awarded a federal grant of $99,774 through the Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs and Institute for Intergovernmental Research for the purchase of Deterra drug disposal bags on behalf of Summit County Community Partnership (SCCP).
The grant dollars will be used to purchase about 32,000 disposal bags to be distributed to community partners across Summit County to help divert unused prescription medications and provide a safe and responsible drug disposal method, preventing abuse and misuse of leftover prescription medication, according to city officials.
Deterra bags come in small (holds 15 pills), medium (45 pills), and large (90 pills) sizes and include directions for safe disposal of drugs. The pouch uses tap water to deactivate prescription drugs and can be sealed and thrown away with household trash.
