Westport trains to fight opioid epidemic
WESTPORT — A local nonprofit partnered with town officials on International Overdose Awareness Day Wednesday as part of the town’s effort to fight the dangers of opioids.
Positive Directions, a state-licensed outpatient treatment center, held a naloxone training event to educate residents about the risks of opioids and counterfeit drugs, and to inform them about the benefits of naloxone, commonly known by the brand name Narcan.
About 40 people attended the training at the Westport Library, and participants received a free Narcan kit.
