National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday is part of year-round effort against opioid addiction

Last year, the Cleveland, OH, hospital system launched a pilot using Deterra bags. Clinical staff can provide those bags to patients who are prescribed opioids.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — This weekend, local hospital and law enforcement officials will open the doors of their pharmacies and stations to encourage the safe disposal of old or unwanted prescription drugs.

A National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is slotted for Saturday, Oct. 26. While additional drug drop-off locations will be available Saturday, a number of sites locally exist year-round for disposal of opiates and other prescription drugs.
